Barça: the return of João Cancelo is taking shape

Loaned to FC Barcelona by Al-Hilal in the second half of last season, João Cancelo quickly convinced Hansi Flick and established himself as one of the priority files in the Blaugrana transfer window. It’s now official: the Portuguese is making his return to Catalonia and signing up definitively with Barça, after a first experience on loan also during the 2023-2024 season.

Cancelo had then made 42 appearances for the Catalan club, compared to 23 appearances during his six-month stint last season. Very versatile, the former Juventus, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan player can play on both flanks of the defense and thus offers an additional solution to Flick. A reinforcement particularly awaited by the German technician to densify his workforce.
