After the defeat against RC Lens during the Champions Trophy (1-0), PSG will have to cope without Nuno Mendes for its first three days of Ligue 1. Sent off at the end of the match for an elbow on Michal Skoras, the Portuguese full-back received a three-match firm suspension, a heavy sanction which inevitably caused a reaction within the Parisian club. On the eve of facing Rennes, Luis Enrique was asked to reconsider this decision.
The PSG coach, however, did not wish to dwell on the controversy and preferred to call for the acceptance of the sanction, while sending a message to his player on the management of provocations: “Joao Neves is ready. He had a little problem, we decided not to risk it against Lens. Nuno Mendes, saying whether his suspension is fair or not doesn’t add anything. You have to accept it. There will be provocations, you have to know how to deal with that”. This is clear.
