Despite the heavy 5-0 defeat against Brighton, Pierre Sage is expected to retain his position as Crystal Palace coach for the immediate future. According to The Athleticthe English club is not considering any changes in the short term and intends to give the French technician time to rectify the situation. The former OL coach should therefore be on the bench on Thursday for the Europa League trip against Besiktas, then on Sunday against Newcastle in the Premier League. The leaders, however, remain concerned by the defensive difficulties of their team, which conceded 17 goals during its first seven days of the championship. The French technician must in particular discuss with the sports department to analyze defensive problems, in a context complicated by the injuries of Chadi Riad and Takehiro Tomiyasu, as well as by the suspension of Axel Disasi. Appointed in June after the departure of Oliver Glasner, Sage admitted after the defeat against Brighton that he did not know if he would manage to turn the situation around. For now, Crystal Palace is therefore favoring continuity, but the next matches will be decisive for the future of the 47-year-old coach…
