Although he failed to be selected by Didier Deschamps during the last World Cup, Florian Thauvin (13 caps, 2 goals) still managed to find the French team. Before being recalled during the matches of October and November 2025, where he was rather efficient, the Lensois had deserted the Blues since June 2019. Despite the change of coach, the 2018 world champion hopes to still be in the small papers. During the Champions Trophy press conference (Sunday at 8:45 p.m. between RC Lens and PSG), the former Marseillais wanted to thank Deschamps for his time on the French bench, while opening the door wide to a call from Zinedine Zidane.

Do I hope to return? Yes, of course. But first of all, we must thank Didier Deschamps for everything he has brought to the France team. He was even the one who allowed me to realize my dream and join the French team. I thank him for that and for the results and the happiness he brought to the Frenchbegins the 33-year-old, impatient to discover what happens next. And now, it’s Zinédine Zidane’s time to take charge of the French team. I think we’re all very proud and we’re all looking forward to seeing Zidane on the bench. Concerning myself, as always, I will follow the same course of action: to be the most efficient on a daily basis with Lens to give yourself the right to dream. But I think I demonstrated last year that I could be a candidate, so we won’t deprive ourselves. »
