After the recorded departure of Mason Greenwood to Fenerbahçe, a new player is leaving Marseille. It’s now official: Hamed Junior Traoré leaves Olympique de Marseille and joins Genoa. As we revealed to you on our site a few days ago, an agreement had been reached between the two teams for the departure of the Ivorian international to the Italian club. The 26-year-old attacking midfielder joins Serie A on a loan with a purchase option of more than 8 million euros. An operation which allows OM to continue its summer downsizing, while freeing up part of its payroll after the sanctions imposed by the DNCG at the start of the transfer window.

Arriving in Marseille last summer from Bournemouth, Hamed Junior Traoré only spent one season in the Olympian jersey. Recruited after a good period with AJ Auxerre, where he had regained rhythm and efficiency, the Ivorian never really managed to establish himself in the Canebière in the long term. Hampered by several injuries, he only played 19 matches in all competitions with OM, for a record of three goals and two assists, statistics insufficient to convince the Marseille management to bet on him for the 2026-2027 financial year.

Hamed Junior Traoré returns to Serie A

“Genoa CFC announces that it has finalized the acquisition of the rights to the performances of attacking midfielder Hamed Junior Traorè, from Olympique de Marseille, as part of a loan with an option to purchase. Born on February 16, 2000, Hamed has 18 goals and 13 assists in 149 Serie A matches, 12 goals and 3 assists in 39 Ligue 1 matches, and 1 assist in 11 Premier League matches. »indicates the Italian club in its press release.

With this new challenge at Genoa, Hamed Junior Traoré returns to a championship that he knows perfectly and in which he had revealed himself. Before his time in the Premier League with Bournemouth and then his adventure in Marseille, the player had already worn the colors of Empoli, Sassuolo and Naples in Serie A. The Italian club now hopes to relaunch a player who had shown great technical and offensive qualities before experiencing a more complicated season in France.
