Lionel Messi recreated one of Diego Maradona’s most famous images on his MLS debut for Inter Miami against New York Red Bulls.

Former USA star Taylor Twellman popped the question after watching the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner in action.

Leo Messi played just 30 minutes against the Red Bulls but that was enough for him to score his 11th goal in nine appearances and spark further hysteria over his impact in the United States.

Messi’s remarkable vision showed up just before he found the back of the net. He indeed made the most amazing pass, the Argentinian being surrounded by defenders but able to find a teammate.

Maradona found himself in a similar situation during the 1986 World Cup, in a meeting with Belgium, and similarities have been drawn between this iconic image and the snap from Messi’s last outing.
