EdF: Bixente Lizarazu delivers his starting eleven for the 2026 World Cup

1998 World Champion alongside Didier Deschamps, Bixente Lizarazu projected himself into the role of coach this Sunday morning on the set of Téléfoot. He has thus composed his eleven type for the 2026 World Cup. If he recognizes the difficulty of the exercise given the richness of the French workforce is important, the former full-back nevertheless decided on several strong choices, starting with the installation of Lucas Digne as left back, in place of Théo Hernandez, considered too irregular.

In central defense, he opted for a William Saliba – Upamecano hinge, with Mike Maignan in the cages. Lizarazu also explained his reservations regarding Ibrahima Konaté, whom he sometimes considers too feverish, while he highlights the defensive profile of Jules Koundé on the right. In midfield, alongside Aurélien Tchouaméni, he chose Manu Koné, preferring his profile to that of Adrien Rabiot. Finally, in attack, he composed a quartet Désiré Doué – Ousmane Dembélé – Michael Olise – Kylian Mbappé, while once again emphasizing the complexity of his choices in the face of the offensive density of the Blues.
