Thierry Henry has officially been stripped of his record for assists in a Premier League season, which he co-held until now.

Thierry Henry is erased from the shelves of the Premier League, as far as assists are concerned. Until this Sunday, the legendary French striker co-held the record forassists over a Premier League season.

With Arsenal, Thierry Henry reached the milestone of 20 assists during the 2002-2003 season, imitated in 2019-2020 by Kevin De Bruyne, the playing master of Manchester City. One player has done better this season: Bruno Fernandes.

While Manchester United ensured their return to the Champions League by finishing third, one of the issues at the end of the Red Devils’ season was this record targeted by the Portuguese. The former Sporting player added a unit to his tally last weekend against Nottingham (3-2). He managed to bring down the 21st this Sunday in Brighton.

Multi-distinguished Bruno Fernandes

From a corner, Bruno Fernandes found Patrick Dorgu’s winning header. The Dane and the whole team came to the Portuguese to celebrate this record.

Bruno Fernandes thus adds a new accomplishment to his XXL season. The Portuguese received this week the title of player of the year, chosen by his peers, by the players’ union (PFA). He also received this distinction from the Football Writer’s Association.
