Not used during the first two days of the Premier League, Steve Mandanda made his debut with Crystal Palace, just like his new teammate Christian Benteke, Tuesday evening during the second round of the League Cup against a fourth division team, Blackpool (2-0).

“Benteke showed why we paid record compensation for him (more than 31 million euros,
editor’s note), and Mandanda showed why he was captain of Marseille”commented Alan Pardew on the London club’s website.

However, the Eagles coach should once again trust Welsh goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey on Saturday against Bournemouth.
