On March 13, Paris Match revealed that TF1 was going to stop the show “Téléfoot” at the end of the season. Information that the sports management of the first channel then confirmed to
The Team.
A considerable upheaval for the program schedule of the oldest general television channel in France, knowing that the program devoted exclusively to football had existed since 1977. Initially, it was a multisport program which was to take over for the 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. slot at the end of Sunday morning.
Except that the leaders of the first channel have changed their minds according to the same sports daily. “TF1 has renegotiated with LFP Media for a new lease, with some small new features”writes sports journalist Étienne Moatti in his article on this subject.
Téléfoot will probably survive on TF1
Grégoire Margotton should therefore very probably present “Téléfoot” for a ninth consecutive season. His faithful sidekick, sports consultant Bixente Lizarazu, could remain his partner given that he is under contract with TF1 until 2028.
This 2025-2026 season, Téléfoot still attracts nearly 800,000 faithful, every Sunday between 11 a.m. and noon. The show’s major historical records in this area are around 2.5 to 3 million viewers for the highest peaks.
