Medhi Benatia’s statements regarding a potential arrival at PSG were not to the taste of Jérôme Rothen.

A little sentence that provokes the anger of an entire city. Clearly, Medhi Benatia is having a more than difficult end to the season in Marseille. Guest of the show The Bridge, the Moroccan leader – leaving OM and coveted by Al-Ittihad – suggested that he could rally the sworn enemy in the years to come.

“In three, four or five years, if Nasser (al-Khelaïfi) needs me (…), that it must be in a role at PSG and that at that moment, I like it, but I don’t owe anything to anyone,” assured the one who trained at Olympique de Marseille between 2003 and 2008.

Statements which divided observers of French football, including Jérôme Rothen. The former Parisian would not welcome the arrival of the current director of Marseille football in the capital club. Far from it.

“Not the same values”

“When I hear him talk like that, saying that he can take up a position with Nasser at Paris Saint-Germain… Considering how you defended OM, how you put them forward and we defended you because we believed in it… But this is a betrayal for the supporters”sharply blurted out the columnist of RMC
during his show “Rothen s’ignle”, adding that the two men had not “maybe not the same values. »

For Daniel Riolo, Medhi Benatia’s position is not shocking. “Everyone knows that he has very good relations with Qatar, with PSG and Nasser al-Khelaïfi. He does not have a strong attachment to OM, even though he was trained there. He is not viscerally Marseillais”he recalled during “After Foot” on RMC.
