Having withdrawn since the Football World Cup, Didier Deschamps should be honored in the coming months by the French Football Federation.

At the end of the World Cup, Didier Deschamps chose to break away from the world of football. Eager to breathe and relieve the pressure accumulated over the years at the head of the Blues, the former coach is now fully devoted to those close to him. His daily life is punctuated by special moments with family, regular games of padel with friends or the monitoring of personal projects, like the opening of a restaurant in Dubai.

In this context, if he says he is ready to return to service in the event of an attractive project, a return to business or a new challenge on the sidelines does not appear imminent, with Didier Deschamps instead considering waiting until next summer to dive back in. And this despite the very pronounced interest of Saudi Arabia, ready to offer him a golden bridge to convince him.

The need to cut: this is also the message sent to Philippe Diallo, the president of the French Football Federation when he presented him with the idea of a tribute at the Stade de France for his 14 years spent at the head of the French team with the world champion title won in 2018.

“It is natural that a tribute will be paid to him”

“I spoke about it with Didier at the end of the World Cup. His wish was to take a step back. As soon as he is ready, it is natural that a tribute will be paid to him”he said in Gironde on the sidelines of a working meeting on federal policy with elected officials and employees of the Leagues and Districts of Nouvelle-Aquitaine and Occitanie.

“I do not forget that in 2010, it was the period of shame for French football with Knysna, elimination in the first round of the World Cup, a French team which no longer embodied the values of unity, respect, work,
he continued, seeming to forget the first stone laid by Laurent Blanc. He managed to restore the image, to get people behind it again and to have sporting performances. It deserves recognition from French football. »
