While the Coupe de France final pits Lens against Nice this Friday (9 p.m.), violent clashes took place in Paris on Thursday evening.

After a great Coupe de France campaign, Racing Club de Lens and OGC Nice have won the right to compete in the final of the competition this Friday (9 p.m., at the Stade de France). A celebration for football and the supporters of both clubs. For others, the opportunity to bring chaos in their luggage. This was unfortunately the case Thursday evening, in the streets of Paris.

As the Paris Police Prefecture confirmed to various media, a huge fight broke out near a bar located in the 10th arrondissement of the capital. A hundred “supporters” of OGC Nice in particular,
“obviously seeking to fight”
according to the prefecture, ended up triggering hostilities “for a reason unknown at this stage”, according to comments relayed by L’Équipe.

Quickly present on the scene, the police took action and finally preceded the arrest of sixty-five individuals who were immediately placed in police custody. Among the items seized, bladed weapons and weapons by destination.

Head trauma and hospitalization of an injured person

As indicated by the sports media, the clashes would have pitted Nice hooligans helped by colleagues from Lille, Nancy as well as Germans from Saarbrücken, against Parisians, “mostly formerly of the Auteuil stand”. The brawl left a serious victim, placed in intensive care after severe head trauma.

The security system is important for this final between Lensois and Niçois, with more than 2,000 police officers deployed.
