After the interruption of the Nantes-Toulouse match, Mickaël Landreau strongly criticized the attitude of Vahid Halilhodzic.

The meeting between FC Nantes and Toulouse, counting for the 34th and final day of Ligue 1, never came to an end. In a poster without any real sporting challenge, the Canaries already being condemned to relegation, Nantes supporters from the Loire stand invaded the pitch and threw several smoke bombs while the score was still 0-0 in the 22nd minute, causing the match to be definitively interrupted.

In the confusion, Vahid Halilhodžić, who returned to the Nantes bench to everyone’s surprise at the beginning of March, remained at the edge of the pitch with the desire to chat with the supporters. Detained by security agents, the Franco-Bosnian technician, very affected by the situation and aware of the sanctions which threaten the club, explained afterwards that he simply wanted to ask the fans to return to the stands. A sequence which was not to Mickaël Landreau’s taste.

“There is so much to say… Some things bother me a little. Vahid’s direction bothers me a little. I think he’s talking about FC Nantes, but he came for him. There are things that bother me about the way Vahid is handling the situation”launched the former Canaries goalkeeper (1993-2006), now a consultant for Canal+.

“Vahid was not in danger”

The former French international, however, wanted to put the events that occurred at La Beaujoire into perspective. “Obviously, we never want an outburst but Vahid was not in danger at any time and he knew it. Besides, there was no problem per se. There was no malice”he estimated, cited by RMCbefore sending a strong message to the Loire Brigade.

“For around twenty years, where I recognize myself the most is in the stand, the Loire Brigade, the entertainment, the atmosphere. This is what speaks to me the most for years at FC Nantes”added the one who had tried, a few years ago, to set up a project to buy the Canaries via the “Collectif Nantais”.
