The LFP Disciplinary Commission must now rule on the incidents that occurred on Saturday evening during Bastia-Le Mans.

Le Mans will still have to wait before being able to officially celebrate its return to Ligue 1. Despite a second place validated at the end of the 34th and final day of Ligue 2, the Sarthe club remains suspended from the decision of the LFP Disciplinary Commission after the incidents that occurred on Saturday evening in Bastia.

While the Manceaux led 2-0 in Bastia and were heading towards a rise in the elite, the match was definitively stopped in the final minutes following smoke bombs being thrown onto the pitch. A tense outcome for a match with major consequences, since the relegation of Bastia to Ligue 3 must also be made official.

The verdict Wednesday

Meeting this Sunday morning, the Disciplinary Commission announced the opening of an investigation concerning the incidents that occurred in Corsica. In a press release taken up by RMC, the body specifies: “Given the urgency and in order to ensure the smooth running of the competitions, the LFP Disciplinary Commission will rule on this matter at its meeting on Wednesday May 13”.

The decision will therefore come the day after the pre-playoff between Red Star and Rodez on Tuesday evening. In the meantime, on the Le Mans side, confidence remains intact despite this particular context. Present on Saturday evening in After Foot on RMC, coach Patrick Videira was calm about the outcome of the case: “We must maintain a lot of humility. Certainly today we are in Ligue 1 but it is also the descent of a club (Bastia) and I think we will try to return quickly to celebrate it with our supporters. »
