Forced into a draw (1-1) by PSG and eliminated from the Champions League, the Bavarians castigated the refereeing at the end of the match.

Bayern Munich will not play in the Champions League final. Consequence of his draw conceded at the Allianz Arena (1-1) eight days after his defeat at the Parc des Princes (5-4). Showered from the start by Ousmane Dembélé, the German champions hit a wall for a long time, only managing to equalize thanks to the inevitable Harry Kane in added time.

But if the Bavarians paid tribute to their executioners, they also pointed the finger at the arbitration of Mr. Pinheiro. The fault notably lies with two unsanctioned Parisian hands. The first, shortly before the half-hour mark, from Nuno Mendes who could have earned the Portuguese full-back a second yellow card and therefore his exclusion. But the Portuguese referee whistled a first hand from Konard Laimer.

“I watched the images three times and I did not see a single image where Konrad Laimer touched the ball with his hand,” Vincent Kompany said at a press conference. Has anyone seen any other images here? he continued while questioning the journalists. I was 10 meters away and not once did I have the impression that Konrad had touched the ball with his hand. He took it with his hip. For me it was clearly a second yellow card. This scene is decisive for the match. »

The second hand came a few minutes later and was the work of Joao Neves. Following a clearance from Vitinha in the Parisian area, his compatriot clearly deflected the trajectory of the ball with his hand. But this time, the regulations issued by the IFAB dictate that when a ball is touched with the hand by a player while the ball has been shot by one of his teammates, “it is not a handball (unless the ball goes directly into the opponent’s goal or the player scores immediately afterwards, in which case a direct free kick is awarded to the other team)”.

The referee’s inexperience pointed out

If Vincent Kompany this time confided “understand this rule”, he also recalled that a penalty had been whistled against Bayern in the first leg for a handball which was open to interpretation. But the Belgian coach was not the only one to have it bad against the referee. The same was true of its president.

“It is astonishing to say the least that a referee who has only officiated 15 times in the Champions League is authorized to officiate such a match. This might explain some of his decisions today…”thus denounced Jan-Christian Dreesen. This clash between Bayern and PSG was the first semi-final refereed by the Portuguese, who stopped at the round of 16 stage last season.
