Arsenal, the dream of an incredible double!

It is perhaps as reigning English champion that Arsenal will play the final of the Champions League, on May 30, against the winner of Bayern-PSG. The Gunners took out Antoine Griezmann’s Atlético (1-0) on Tuesday evening.

Twenty years after a Champions League final lost against Barça (2-1), at the Stade de France, Arsenal has the chance to play the second C1 final in its history, on May 30 in Budapest. The Gunners won their qualification at the expense of Atlético thanks to a single goal from Bukayo Saka before half-time, on a ball released by Jan Oblak (44th).

Mikel Arteta’s team is going to have a crazy end to the season and the Basque coach has a chance of becoming a legend. Arsenal are in fact in a favorable position at the top of the Premier League with five points ahead of Manchester City, who certainly have a game in hand with three days remaining.

Griezmann, an opportunity then leaves

Antoine Griezmann, 35, leaves the LDC with his head down, without a second final to his credit after the disillusionment of 2016 against Real Madrid on penalties. Valiant, “Grizi” did not weigh much in his team’s play but was the author of his team’s first shot before the hour mark, alerting David Raya with a right-footed shot (56th). He was replaced ten minutes later by Diego Simeone (66th).

This laborious opposition between two defensively formidable teams will make Arsenal the underdog in the final against Bayern or PSG, two much more talented teams. But the London club will have a great opportunity to offer themselves a second European title after the 1970 Cup Winners’ Cup (1-0 against Parma).
