Relations between PSG and Real Madrid have calmed down a little recently. After a real cold war between the two managements, caused by several issues such as the Mbappé case or the European Super League – PSG was against and the Merengues for – the two parties have become closer in recent months. Nasser Al-Khelaïfi also praised his counterpart Florentino Pérez in an interview last February, calling him a man “elegant, intelligent, a visionary”. Suffice to say that the hatchet is buried.

And Paris Saint-Germain intends to take advantage of all that. Indeed, the daily Marca reveals big information this Sunday: the capital club is interested in Joan Martinez, a young 18-year-old central defender. Rather publicized and considered one of the club’s biggest hopes, the Spaniard therefore caught the eye of Paris Saint-Germain, he who had a big season with Real Madrid Castilla and with the U19 team, with which he won the UEFA Youth League by being one of the captains of the young Madrid players.

A big hope from Real Madrid… but more expensive than Dro

Luis Campos really likes him, who plans to recruit him and who has already made initial approaches, in particular inquiring about his contractual situation. The central defender is thus under contract until 2029, with a release clause of 150 million euros. Which puts Real Madrid in a certain position of strength – unlike Barça with Dro – since it seems impossible to imagine the Parisians lifting this clause.

The media specifies that PSG is ready to conduct negotiations and make a substantial offer. Real Madrid is not completely closing the door, but the amount of the operation would have to be substantial. If this file can resemble that of Dro Fernandez, Martinez would be much more expensive than the former Barça man, who only cost 7 to 8 million euros this winter. Especially in this case, contrary to what Madrilenians are used to doing, it would not be possible to include a buyout clause or retain 50% of the player’s rights. At 18 years old and 1m92 tall, Martinez is already facing a big turning point in his career…
