Paris Saint-Germain hosted Lorient at the Parc des Princes as part of the 32nd day of Ligue 1 with the objective of getting a little closer to the title, a few days after their spectacular European success against Bayern (5-4). Luis Enrique had largely rotated his squad by aligning a reshuffled team in 3-2-4-1 with the young Renato Marin in goal for his first appearance in the league, protected by Hernandez, Pacho and Beraldo. In the middle, Mayulu and Lee Kang-In accompanied Ruiz while Barcola, Doué, Fernandez and Mbaye led the attack. Opposite, Lorient presented themselves without complexes in a 3-4-2-1 with Mvogo in the cages behind Faye, Adjei and Talbi. The Abergel-Cadiou duo organized the game while Katseris and Kouassi occupied the lanes, Pagis and Avom supporting Dieng up front.

PSG quickly took the lead in this meeting with maximum success. On a cross from Doué, Mvogo clumsily pushed the ball directly onto the chest of Mbaye who unintentionally scored to open the scoring (6th). But the Lorient reaction was not long in coming. Well served on the right side, Katseris delivered a perfect cross for Pagis who adjusted Marin and equalized (12th). The meeting was then balanced with playful Merlus and Parisians trying to regain control. Barcola brushed past the post with a curling shot (24th) while Doué was inspired but imprecise in the last gesture (27th). The opportunities then followed one another for the Parisians, notably with a header from Hernandez on the crossbar (34th) and several decisive interventions from Mvogo. Despite this pressure, the two teams returned to the locker rooms with a logical parity score after a lively first period.

A completely crazy end to the match

Upon returning from the locker room, the pace dropped slightly with the Parisians monopolizing the ball without really managing to accelerate the game. Doué tried his luck with a free kick without success (51st) and Lorient remained dangerous in a few situations, notably a header from Talbi which went very close to the target (48th). Luis Enrique then made changes and the entry of Zaire-Emery immediately changed the situation. On his first ball, the young midfielder took advantage of a shift from Doué to trigger a slightly deflected long shot which deceived Mvogo and gave PSG the advantage (62nd). Paris then seemed to be in control, circulating the ball against Lorient who were cornered in their own half. The end of the match finally turned into a more open scenario than expected.

While PSG seemed to be managing, a defensive error benefited Tosin who recovered a poorly negotiated ball before infiltrating the area and equalizing with the help of the post (78th). The final minutes became completely crazy with opportunities on both sides. Marin had to work to save his team (83rd) while Hernandez again found the post with a header from a corner (85th). Mayulu also hit the mark in the final moments (88th) but the score no longer changed. In added time, the Park held its breath when the referee whistled a penalty for a supposed handball from Cadiou, before finally being corrected by the VAR and canceling its decision after viewing the images (90th+4, 90th+5). This frustrating draw prevented PSG from taking a decisive step towards the title despite their domination, while Lorient left the Parc with a precious point before approaching a final schedule against Metz then Le Havre, while Paris will have to continue against Brest then Lens before concluding its season in the championship.
