Over the last eight confrontations since 2020, the rivalry between Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich has mainly turned to the advantage of the Germans, despite a few Parisian ups and downs. Bayern won the 2020 Champions League final (1-0) during Covid-19, then confirmed its solidity in 2021 in the quarter-finals with qualification despite an away victory for PSG (3-2 for Paris in the first leg, but elimination on the return leg). In 2023, the Bavarians regained control in the round of 16 with two successes (1-0 then 2-0), before dominating again in the group stage in 2024 (1-0). In 2025, the balance is slightly nuanced with Paris winning in the quarter-final of the Club World Cup (2-0), but Bayern regains the advantage in the group stage of the Champions League (2-1) at the start of the season.

Over all 16 historic confrontations, the balance of power remains generally favorable to Bayern, with a recurring capacity to make the difference in knockout matches and major European meetings. On the other hand, PSG has often responded in the group stages or with one-off exploits, as in 1997 or in 2021, but is struggling to establish lasting domination. This opposition, marked by close scores and constant intensity, illustrates a high-level European rivalry where every detail weighs heavily. Let’s see what this new double confrontation in the semi-final tells us, which already smells like gunpowder.
