Spanish football mourns a well-known doctor from La Liga fields. Doctor Salvador Castillo Dorado died of cancer at the age of 53. Originally from Andalusia, this graduate of the University of Granada started in football in the 90s at Rayo Vallecano, before being the doctor of the clubs of Jerez de la Frontera, Murcia, Almeria and Cádiz before returning to Granada to accompany the youth teams and even manage the B team as coach for a season.
In 2021, this doc who had become a reference in the prevention of injuries to high-level athletes was promoted to doctor for the first team of Granada, then in La Liga, with Robert Moreno (ex-Monaco) in charge. French international Maxime Gonalons and Colombian striker Luis Suarez played in this team. Luca Zidane’s current club then finished 18th to be relegated to
segunda division.
The doctor of the 2023 world champions
In the summer of 2022, Salvador Castillo Dorado was poached by Julen Lopetegui’s Sevilla FC (replaced by Jorge Sampaoli in October) and thus rubbed shoulders with Yassine Bounou, LoĂŻc BadĂ©, Karim Rekik, Gonzalo Montiel, Marcos Acuña, Ivan Rakitic, Alejandro Gomez, Lucas Ocampos and Youssef En-Nesyri.
The Spanish federation made him one of the doctors of the women’s team at the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, which La Roja won on August 20 in Sydney, against England (1-0, goal by Olga Carmona). The Spanish celebration was marked by the forced kiss of the president of the federation, Luis Rubiales, on Jenni Hermoso.
