For more than three years, PSG wanted to become the owner of the Parc des Princes to maximize revenues. But the Paris town hall, owner of the venue, closed the door to any sale during the mandate of Anne Hidalgo, considering that the stadium was part of Parisian heritage. Faced with this blockage, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi had studied radical alternatives, notably building a new stadium in Poissy or Massy – a colossal project which would require years of work. Everything changed with the Parisian municipal elections last March.
A week after his election as mayor of Paris, Emmanuel Grégoire announced that he wanted to sell the Parc des Princes to PSG before the summer, and has already contacted Nasser Al-Khelaïfi on this subject. This Monday, Emmanuel Grégoire was present on the airwaves of RMC to share his optimism on this issue: “it is a relationship with leaders that is healthy and full of courtesy. I love football and PSG. I’m happy for their season. We have reestablished dialogue. I’m not going to reveal the discussions to you, but I think we started off on a very solid basis for discussion. If all conditions are met, I am reasonably optimistic.»
