Nightmare Sunday for Luca Zidane with Granada: the Algerian international goalkeeper conceded four goals in Liga 2 and was evacuated at the end of the match after a blow to the head.

“He remains under observation and will undergo examinations. He was feeling dizzy.”. Pacheta, the Granada coach, gave some news about his goalkeeper Luca Zidane after the defeat against Almeria (2-4) on Sunday. The Algerian international had a very bad afternoon when receiving second place in Liga 2 (behind Racing Santander).

A week after conceding four goals in Albacete, the second son of “Zizou” has gained again. His teammate Pedro Aleman opened the scoring (11th), but Sergio Arribas, striker trained at Real Madrid, scored a quick double for Almeria (14th, 18th) before increasing the score from the penalty spot (36th). Miguel de la Fuente brought the score to 4-1 after the hour mark for the visitors in this Andalusian derby (68th).

Luca Zidane stunned

Granada scored the last goal of the match at the end of added time by Pablo Saenz (90th + 7), after the replacement of Luca Zidane. The player trained by the Merengues took a blow to the head on a corner and, stunned on the pitch and bleeding from the mouth, was forced to give up his place (90th). He was taken to the nearest hospital for observation. This doesn’t seem too serious.

Luca Zidane will know in the coming days if he will be able to hold his place next Friday against Zaragoza. Granada are nine points ahead of the first relegated team with five days remaining. The former French U20 will then continue with preparations for the 2026 World Cup with the Algerian team, for an opening shock against Lionel Messi’s Argentina, on June 17 in Kansas City.
