Real Madrid has taken legal action against La Liga over its protocol to combat discrimination, harassment and violence in professional football, adopted in February 2026 by the delegates committee. According to MARCAthe Madrid club requests the cancellation of this agreement, believing that it should be based on voluntary membership of the clubs rather than on an obligation imposed by the governing body of the Spanish championship. In its argument, Real Madrid evokes a system judged “coercive”while recalling that it already has its own internal mechanisms on these issues.

This position arouses astonishment within several La Liga clubs, who struggle to understand this opposition on a subject widely supported by Spanish football institutions and public authorities, including the Ministry of the Interior. The judge hearing the case has, for the moment, rejected the precautionary measures requested by Real Madrid, preferring to hear La Liga before ruling. In the meantime, Florentino PĂ©rez’s club finds itself isolated in a case which continues to fuel tensions with the governing bodies of Spanish football.
