Author of an unexpected reversal of the situation, the Racing Club de Strasbourg managed to win this Sunday on the Lorient pitch, thanks in particular to two goals scored in stoppage time in the second half (2-3, 31st day of Ligue 1). A success which allows the Alsatians to still believe in a European place at the end of the season.
The first act was however better managed by Lorient. Although Strasbourg had possession (63%), it was the locals who were the most incisive with almost three times as many shots. And on a serve from Panos Katseris, it was Noha Cadiou who opened the scoring on the Lorient side (1-0, 26th).
The Merlus hit the nail on the head ten minutes after the restart, thanks to the penalty converted by Pablo Pagis (2-0, 54th). But Strasbourg did not give up and little by little took control of the match, also taking advantage of a weaker opponent. Sebastian Nanasi put his team back in the direction of march when reducing the gap (2-1, 62nd).
Strasbourg, two goals in stoppage time
For a long time, the score did not change. Until the stoppage time arrived. And then, everything worked out in favor of the visitors. First of all with this csc from poor Nathaniel Adjei (2-2, 90th + 2). But it was not over since seven minutes later, after extended extra time, Andrew Omobamidela, taken from a corner, scored from the left at the far post (2-3, 90th+9).
Disaster scenario for the Lorient public, but immeasurable joy on the RCS side. With four league matches remaining at the end of the season, Emanuel Emegha and his team can still hope to secure a European place. They are currently six points behind sixth place occupied by OM.
