The Ligue 1+ channel is preparing for a particularly active summer, despite its absence of rights to the 2026 World Cup.

No summer break for Ligue 1+. Excluded from the race for the rights to the 2026 World Cup (June 11-July 19), ultimately awarded to beIN Sports, the channel nevertheless intends to maintain a continuous presence on the football market during the summer, between May 24 and August 15.

With this in mind, the platform wants to fill the void of the off-season by increasing content and broadcasts, in particular with programming focused on preparation matches, reveals RMC. “Discussions are currently underway with the clubs in our championship”indicated Jérôme Cazadieu, editorial director of the channel, in the show
After FC.

“All the matches have not yet been decided, neither the dates nor the locations, but I think that we will have between 20 and 25 matches between mid-July and mid-August, with very good players.”he specifies. A calendar still under construction, likely to evolve depending on the final ranking of Ligue 1 and the preparation choices of the clubs.

European competitions, an avenue under study

On a technical level, Ligue 1+ will ensure the production of matches played on French territory. Abroad, the channel will rely on signals provided by the host clubs.

Finally, the platform does not exclude positioning itself in the preliminary rounds of European competitions involving French clubs, rights distinct from those held by Canal+ and accessible via specific acquisitions.
