Javier Tebas must not be smiling at the start of the season. The president of La Liga can only note the catastrophic audiences of the Spanish championship on these first two days. None of the 20 games played exceeded 8% market share. For the moment, the meeting between Barça and Cadiz (2nd day) holds the palm with 593,000 viewers, or 7.2% of audience share, ahead of the victory, the day before, of Real Madrid on the lawn of Almeria where 588,000 people watched the match (8% audience).

A public very far from being at the rendezvous especially for the other teams in the championship. Only 98,000 viewers (1.3% market share) saw the defeat of Sevilla FC, winner of the last Europa League however, at Alaves when the score was 4-3 at the final whistle. It was even worse for Girona-Getafe with 85,000 people in front of the screen. For Betis-Atlético de Madrid, two particularly watched clubs, the televisions estimated the audience at 381,000 followers (3.8%). To explain this phenomenon, the Spanish media evoke the rise in prices to subscribe to the various channels, encouraging people to seek free streaming on the internet, but also the drop in level in La Liga where the stars are disappearing after the departures of Ronaldo, Messi and now Benzema.
