The divorce between Florian Thauvin and the Monterrey Tigers is experiencing a new twist. The player has filed a complaint with the Court of Arbitration for Sport and is claiming 12 million from his former employer.

If everything has gone like clockwork for André-Pierre Gignac since he has worn the Monterrey Tigres jersey, things have been very different for Florian Thauvin. Convinced by his former teammate from Olympique de Marseille, the Frenchman ended up signing with the Mexican club in the summer of 2021. For a disappointing result that ultimately led to an early departure last January. Fired by the Tigers because of too many foreigners in the workforce, Thauvin believes he should be paid for the twenty-seven months he had left to do. All for an amount estimated by him at some twelve million euros. He filed a complaint for this.

As stated ABC News, it was to the Court of Arbitration for Sport that the French international turned. The Mexican media has also confirmed that the Tigers have taken note and knowledge of this complaint brought against them by their ex-player. When he left the club at the start of the calendar year, Florian Thauvin received three months’ salary as compensation.

A clause of the contract in question

And, still according to ABC News, the Monterrey club believes that this famous three-month compensation was a clause included in the contract signed with the Frenchman. Now a Udinese player, the thirty-year-old winger therefore hopes to win his case after seizing the CAS. As a reminder, the role of the international body will be to offer mediation or to carry out arbitration in the case.
