PSG: unexpected twist for the future of Ousmane Dembélé!

At Paris Saint-Germain, the Ousmane Dembélé file does not follow the same logic as the other extensions. Under contract until 2028 and with the highest salary in the squad, estimated at 1.5 million euros gross per month, the French striker is still in uncertainty. As we revealed last December, a proposal from the capital club was refused by the player, who asked for a better salary. And since then, the 2025 Ballon d’Or remained in uncertainty, although he had assured that there was no “no reason for me not to extend at PSG”.

Today, the extension of number 10 does not constitute an immediate priority for Parisian leaders, according to The Team. The club currently prefers to secure the future of young talents like Senny Mayulu or Bradley Barcola. Internally, the motto is clear: it’s all a question of timing. Despite regular discussions in recent months, no concrete progress is expected before the end of the season. PSG’s run in the Champions League could also weigh heavily in the balance.

Exit doors in Europe and elsewhere

A premature elimination could revive certain reflections, while a Dembélé decisive until the end would strengthen his position in future negotiations. If his Ballon d’Or reinforced his status, certain doubts remained due to a first part of the season disrupted by injuries. Since January, its level of performance has returned to meet expectations, but the financial issue remains sensitive. President Nasser al-Khelaïfi also recalled the existence of a salary cap, stressing that “the team and the club are the most important”.

What should Ousmane Dembélé do at the end of the season?

Image generation in progress

Financial fair play thus imposes limits which could complicate discussions. And in the event of failure of negotiations, several exit routes already exist. England and Saudi Arabia are closely monitoring the situation, although no concrete offer has yet been made, despite initial contacts. For his part, Dembélé prefers to wait until the end of the season and the World Cup before deciding. Waiting for, “It’s not me who makes the decisions”added the attacker. The ball is in the Parisian court…
