What if we saw a sort of offbeat crossover this summer? While the suspense over the appointment of Zinedine Zidane on the bench of the France team at the end of the 2026 World Cup is clearly over, RMC assures this Friday that Didier Deschamps is part of Real Madrid’s shortlist for the position of coach! Zinedine Zidane’s lifelong club, which he left his mark as a player and coach, could therefore be the future destination of the current coach of the France team!

Information that is both surprising and not so far-fetched. Surprising because Deschamps has never looked like a coach likely to take a place on the bench of the Merengue club, in particular because of his pragmatic style of play. So, is he one avenue among others at Real Madrid, who are looking for a man capable of building a new victorious cycle, while a second year looms in the shadow of Barça in La Liga and without a title on the European scene (while waiting for the quarter-final return against Bayern)? Probably since several names have already been mentioned, including Jürgen Klopp. But there are few technicians on the market who present both his experience, his status and his track record…
