The FFF has revealed the identity of the Blues’ last opponent before the 2026 World Cup. This will be Didier Deschamps’ last match on French soil.

The Blues are set. Before flying to the United States and their base camp in Boston, with a view to competing in the 2026 World Cup, the France team will play two friendly matches at the beginning of June.

We already know that Kylian Mbappé and his partners will face Ivory Coast on June 4 (9:10 p.m.), at Beaujoire in Nantes. Four days later, they will face Northern Ireland, at the Pierre-Mauroy stadium in Lille (9:10 p.m.), the FFF announced this Thursday via an official press release.

This friendly match against Northern Ireland will be Didier Deschamps’ last at the head of the French team on French soil. The French coach announced more than a year ago that he would leave his position at the end of the 2026 World Cup.

Ivory Coast at the World Cup, not Northern Ireland

As a reminder, Northern Ireland will not play in the World Cup. She was eliminated in the play-offs by Italy, who were then eliminated by Bosnia. For its part, Ivory Coast will indeed be present on the American continent this summer.

For this World Cup, the France team has been placed in Group I. The Blues will begin their tournament against Senegal (June 16), before crossing swords with Iraq (June 22) and Norway (June 26).
