After their elimination in the quarter-finals of the Women’s World Cup, the players of the France team did not obtain any individual reward from Fifa after the final won by Spain.

If Kadidiatou Diani finishes 2nd top scorer of the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, with 4 goals (one less than the Japanese Hinata Miyazawa), the France team, eliminated in the quarter-finals by the Australians after an epic penalty shootout, is absent from the individual awards given by Fifa in the wake of the coronation of Spain in front of England (1-0), Sunday in Sydney.

Fifa’s technical committee for this Oceania World Cup elected Spanish midfielder Aitana Bonmati “Golden Ball” of the tournament, succeeding Megan Rapinoe in 2019 as best player. Her compatriot Jennifer Hermoso, top scorer in the history of the Women’s Seleccion is 2nd, while Sweden’s Amanda Ilestedt completes the podium, after scoring 4 times and recovering the 3rd place medal.

Kadidiatou Diani, Eugénie Le Sommer, Wendie Renard, Selma Bacha or the tricolor goalkeeper Pauline Peyraud-Magnin were not distinguished. England’s Mary Earps was voted best goalkeeper of the World Cup and Spanish striker Salma Paralluelo, 19, best player. The young Blue Vicki Becho could have claimed this title if the formation of Hervé Renard had reached the last four or the final of the competition.
