A sudden start or a real trigger match: this is the question that animated all the debates after the resounding victory of Stade Rennais against Racing Club de Strasbourg, last Sunday (4-1).

Habib Beye bought himself a little time thanks to this performance, but the Senegalese technician remains weakened. Each outing is a new test for the Breton club, whose current position does not reflect its ambitions.

Paris FC is not as equipped as Strasbourg, but the promoted team was ready to offer tough opposition this Friday. Offensive and daring, the Ile-de-France team had what it took to hamper this still recovering Rennes team. But Beye’s men were able to avoid the trap set by their opponent.

Rennes is doing well

More effective in the zones of truth, the Rennais have the zest of success necessary to achieve another precious victory, the second in a row, and thus start a real series. We had to wait until the 85th minute to see Embolo break the deadlock. The Swiss international overtook the local defense to finish a well-executed counter attack alone (0-1, 85th).

Before that, it was the PFC who had multiplied the waves on the Rennes goal, but the promoted team lacked precision, promptness, or quite simply luck in the last gesture. Brilliant on his line, Samba was also saved by his uprights on several occasions (65th, 75th). The score has not changed. Rennes makes a small jump in the standings and distances itself from its evening opponent.
