Désiré Doué, it’s official

Currently injured, PSG attacking midfielder Désiré Doué learned some good news this Tuesday.

Désiré Doué has a reason to smile again for a moment. As expected, the 20-year-old French international was named this Monday in Turin, Golden Boy 2025. This prize, created in 2002 by the Italian media Tuttosportrewards the best European player under 21 of the year.

The young Parisian was elected after a vote by several sports media. The latter rewarded the exceptional 2024-2025 season of the native of Angers, who won everything with Paris Saint-Germain, including the Champions League by scoring two goals in the final.

The former Rennais is ahead of Juventus Turin striker Kenan Yildiz and Real Madrid midfielder Arda Güler. Winner in 2024, Lamine Yamal was not eligible this year since he has already won, according to the rules established by the transalpine media. Enough to leave the field open to Désiré Doué.

PSG number 14 thus becomes the fourth French player in history to receive this Golden Boy trophy. Before him, only Kylian Mbappé (2017), Paul Pogba (2013) and Anthony Martial (2015) achieved this feat.

As a reminder, Désiré Doué was injured again in Lorient last week. Hit in a calf at the beginning of September, the versatile attacking midfielder is this time hit in a thigh. If the duration of his unavailability has not been communicated by PSG, the player may not play again in 2025.
