Real Madrid in mourning

The White House is mourning one of its own. Former goalkeeper with Real Madrid, Valencia and the Spanish national team, José Manuel Ochotorena passed away following an illness on Sunday October 26. He was 64 years old.

José Manuel Ochotorena wore the Madrid tunic for six seasons, from 1982 to 1988. With the Merengue, he won two UEFA Cups, three La Liga and one League Cup. The residents of the Bernabéu paid tribute to him through a press release.

And to add: “Real Madrid would like to express its deepest condolences and provide all its support to his family, his teammates and all his loved ones, as well as to all the clubs to which he belonged. »

Besides Real Madrid, Ochotorena has played for Valencia, Tenerife, Logronés and Racing Santander. With Valencians, he received the trophy for best goalkeeper in La Liga during the 1988-1989 season. The former goalkeeper also defended the colors of La Roja (1 selection), notably participating in the 1990 World Cup.

Ochotorena also enjoyed a career coaching goalkeepers. He officiated at Valencia and Liverpool, but also within the Spanish selection (from 2004 to 2021), with whom he won a World Cup and two Euros.
