No happy ending for Australia. While they have generated tremendous popular momentum in their country, the Matildas finish at the foot of the podium of “their” World Cup.

Beaten in the semi-finals by England, the fallers of the France team gave in against Sweden (2-0) in the match for 3rd place, on goals from Rolfo (30th sp) and Asslani (62nd) .

This fourth place is still the best result of the Australian women’s selection at a World Cup.
