Reigning European champion, Paris Saint-Germain appears to be the most dominant team at the start of the Champions League season. As for observers, Bayern Munich appears to be the main team capable of competing with the Parisian armada.

The rankings for the league stage also point in this direction. After three days, PSG occupies first place with three wins in as many matches. Just behind, the Bavarian club keeps pace with an identical record.

“Last year, PSG proved it”

Both teams seem well on their way to finishing in the top 8, synonymous with qualification for the round of 16. But Munich coach Vincent Kompany prefers to remain measured. According to him, being among the top eight in no way guarantees a final victory. The Belgian technician also cited the example of the French champion, 17th last season before lifting the trophy.

“We knew we couldn't lose points in this match, because we are going to face PSG and Arsenal. You have to take every possible point. But I don't think that the Top 8 will be decisive in knowing which team will win the Champions League. Last year, PSG proved it. I think that this year again, it will not be a really important factor. The most important thing is to qualify for the round of 16”judged Kompany at a press conference.
