At San Siro, for the 7th day of Serie A, AC Milan won painfully against Fiorentina (2-1). Deprived of injured Rabiot, Pulisic and Nkunku, the Milanese presented a midfielder made up of Modric, Ricci and Fofana, while Rafael Leão found a starting place for the first time this season in the league. Opposite, the former Rossoneri coach, Stefano Pioli, returned to his former club, while the ex-Parisian Moise Kean led the Viola attack.
Fiorentina opened the scoring in the 55th minute through Robin Gosens, before Leão equalized eight minutes later with a superb right-footed strike from outside the box. Returning from injury for a few weeks, the Portuguese then offered victory to his team from the penalty spot in the 85th minute, scoring a double and ending 519 days without a goal at San Siro in Serie A. A mental success which allowed Milan to take the lead in the standings, while Fiorentina camped in 18th place.
