Historic victory for the Faroe Islands

Already twice victorious over Gibraltar in this qualifying campaign for the 2026 World Cup, the Faroe Islands scored a third prestigious success in front of Montenegro this Thursday. By signing the biggest victory in their history in Torshavn (4-0).

Two days before the end of the qualifiers for the Europe zone, the Faroese remain mathematically in the race for a successful outcome. Four lengths behind the Croatian and Czech group leaders who at the same time left back to back in Prague (0-0).

In groups G and H, the Netherlands and Austria confirmed their leadership by crushing Malta (0-4) and San Marino (10-0) respectively. This with three points ahead of Poland for the Dutch – and two units of margin for the Austrians compared to the Bosnians neutralized in Cyprus (2-2).

Denmark and Scotland, for their part, are leading the race in Pool C after their respective favorable results in Belarus (0-6) and against Greece (3-1). Note in the evening the victory in a friendly match for the English over the Welsh (3-0), thanks to goals from Rogers, Watkins and Saka in the first 20 minutes of play.
