The mandate of Gennaro Gattuso at the head of Italy began with two spectacular victories, against Estonia (5-0) and Israel (4-5). However, the Nazional still remains in annoying posture in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
In group I, Norway continued its impressive course by crushing Moldova (11-1) this Tuesday evening, with a quintuplet for Erling Haaland and a quadruple for Thelo Aasgaard, the Glasgow Rangers player.
Italy in dams?
With 15 points taken out of 15 possible, Norway leads this group with six points ahead of Italy, which certainly has an additional match to play, but which mainly deplores a much less favorable goal difference (+21 for +5). In other words, even a transalpine victory against the Scandinavians on the last day may not be enough, it will be (at least) another false away from the teammates of Martin Odegaard.
In the event of a second place, Italy will have to go through perilous dams to hope to win its qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
