Romelu Lukaku was previously the player with the highest combined transfer fee, with Manchester United, Chelsea, Inter and Everton spending a total of €333m to sign him during his career.

Lukaku is still in talks to leave Chelsea this summer, meaning he’s likely to see that figure rise further, but Neymar’s incredible move will eclipse the sums the Belgian has racked up.

Neymar will become the first player to be transferred twice for more than €100m and his expected total fee will be around €410m based on the final amount paid by Al-Hilal.

FC Barcelona made Neymar the most expensive Brazilian player of all time when he left Santos for 88 million euros in 2013, although this amount is disputed due to the controversial nature of the transfer, the Spanish club having been investigated for illegal payments to the striker. Neymar has reportedly agreed to a €150m-a-year contract with Al-Hilal as PSG are keen to part ways with their player in order to rebuild a new era under the direction of Luis Enrique.
