It is a file that has dragged on almost all of the transfer window. Unwanted on the OM side, Azzedine Ounahi was still looking for a club this summer. After a more than successful loan in Panathinaïkós last season, which allowed him to relaunch himself, the Moroccan international interested several European stables. The first to come forward was called Brighton, who had even convinced the player. But the English club has never taken action in this case. Quite the opposite of the Spartak Moscow, which had quickly reached an agreement with OM.

The Russian club had aligned itself with the 12 million requested by OM. Problem: the Moroccan international did not want to join Russia. The file therefore seemed in the deadlock, even more after the Girona offensive. The Spanish club had arrived with a more than ridiculous offer, offering 3 million for 50 % of the rights of the player. An offer refused by OM, which did not intend to sell off its player.

Deal at more than 6 million euros

At the same time, the Panathinaïkós had not dropped his dream of recovering it. The Greek club had returned to information a few weeks ago. But Azzedine Ounahi, who must compete in the CAN in Morocco in a few months, had a priority: playing in Liga. What convince Girona not to let go of the file and to try a blow in the last days of the transfer window. And with the Mercato de l'Om that ignites, the Spanish club took advantage of it. According to our information, an agreement was reached between OM and Girona for the transfer of the Moroccan.

Azzedine Ounahi will join the Spanish club against a check of more than 6 million euros. OM has managed to include a percentage to resale, which will compensate for the gap with the amount required at the start. After three seasons at the club, Ounahi will be able to revive. At 25, the former Angers player will discover a championship that corresponds to his football qualities. A chance for him to win in a team looking for a technical leader in the midfield. For OM, this transfer will unlock funds for future recruits.
