Erling Haaland does not make a new skin but new jersey. Manchester City prolific striker decided to change the name inscribed in his back in the Norwegian national selection – and potentially in Skyblues as well.

At the origin of this will, a Scandinavian tradition. The intention of everyday practice as a child in the Nordic countries displays both the name of his father and that of his mother. Erling Haaland already observed this use on social networks in particular, adding Braut – the name of his mother's young girl – to the surname Haaland.

It is therefore with a braut Haaland flocked in the back that the one nicknamed the cyborg will play the next matches of Norway. “I was not aware so far but it is his name, it is not more complicated than that,” said national coach Stale Solbakken this Wednesday at a press conference.

Haaland, son of renowned athletes

Like her father, Alfie Haaland, a former footballer in Manchester City in particular, Erling Haaland's mother is a former top sportswoman. Gry Marita Braut has made a name for athletics indeed, heptathlete (conjugation of the 100m hedges, high jump, weight throwing, 200m, leap, leap, javelin and renowned 800m) in the 1990s.

His son will thus pay him a beautiful tribute in his own way. And this from September 4 and a friendly match between Norway and Finland. Five days before the reception of Moldova as part of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. To pursue a cardboard full of 12 out of 12 made until then at the expense of Italy, Israel and Estonia elsewhere.
