First day of the Premier League and first clash between Liverpool and Chelsea this Sunday afternoon. The opportunity to see two attractive teams on paper compete. And inevitably, after a disappointing last season for the Reds and the Blues, this game was the perfect test. First for Chelsea, at home, and who spent almost 1 billion euros on the transfer market to recover their health. Then for Liverpool, which seems to be rebuilding intelligently. For the first of Mauricio Pochettino on the bench, we found a team in 3-5-2 with the presence of Disasi and Thiago Silva in defense. Nicolas Jackson and Sterling led the attack in the absence of Nkunku through injury.

On the Liverpool side, a very offensive team with Jota, Salah, Gakpo, Luis Diaz, Szoboszlai and Mac Allister, just that. Also note the presence of Konaté in central defense. Like last season, Chelsea did not reassure at home, far from it. The team seemed disorganized unlike a very interesting Liverpool in the control of the ball. And Luis Diaz’s opener illustrated it perfectly. After a fine cross from MacAllister, Mohamed Salah who had touched the bar a little earlier, provoked the defender and delivered a marvelous pass for Luis Diaz who opened the scoring (1-0, 18th).

A fun and lively game

A logical goal to reward the domination of the Reds in this meeting. And the score could have been heavier if Mohamed Salah’s second goal was not disallowed for offside. An offside that woke up Chelsea afterwards. Better in place, the teammates of Enzo Fernandez (excellent in this match) ended up equalizing. On a badly returned free kick, Axel Disasi, for his first in his new colors, threw himself and scored his first goal (1-1, 37th). Chilwell then gave his team the lead, but like Salah his goal was canceled for a slight offside position.

In the second half, despite a lively pace, neither team was able to make the difference. The training of Jurgen Klopp will still have missed several opportunities and can therefore have regrets. Chelsea will still have had the match point at the last second (90th + 7). For the first clash of the season, Liverpool and Chelsea leave each other in a draw. The Blues were able to react and reassure themselves for the next deadlines. Liverpool also seem to be doing better and can also look forward to an interesting season.
