Freshly winner of the UEFA Super Cup against Tottenham (2-2, 4-3 on penalties), Paris Saint-Germain launched its season with a first trophy and a good dose of confidence. For its part, FC Nantes, thirteenth in Ligue 1 last season just three points from the red zone, hoped to start again on new bases after a trying year, marked by the arrival of Luis Castro on the bench. For this beginning of exercise, the Ile -de -France aligned an eleven altered, integrating several usual replacement, like Gonçalo Ramos at the forefront, supported by Barcola and Mbaye.

PSG quickly took control of the ball against Nantes, without being content to run. From the first minutes, Lee Kang-in set fire to the Nantes surface, while Warren Zaïre-Emery made a spectacular defensive return to counter Guirassy (12th). Barcola then sent a superb center to Mbaye, slightly too short (14th), and Vitinha was served in depth, but the Nantes defense has perfectly anticipated (25th). Nantes had his first real opportunity in the 32nd minute, with a beautiful diagonal by Benhattab for Mohamed, but knight pushed the ball. Shortly before the break, Gonçalo Ramos found the transverse bar on a closed angle shot, served by Fabián Ruiz (43rd), leaving the score always virgin at half time.

Vitinha finds the fault

Upon returning from the locker room, PSG returned with ambition. In the 50th minute, Ibrahim Mbaye caused the right side, penetrated in the area but was countered in corner. Two minutes later, he slipped a ball on the right towards Kang-in Lee, but Anthony Lopes, out of his goals, captured the ball (52nd). Luis Enrique decided to boost his team for the last half hour by making several changes: Dembélé, Goué, Hakimi and Nuno Mendes made their entry, while Lucas Hernandez, Kang-in Lee, Fabián Ruiz and Ibrahim Mbaye left the lawn. In the 66th minute, Lucas Beraldo almost scored. On a center from the left of Ousmane Dembélé, Illia Zabarnyi only touched the ball from the head to the second post, and Beraldo threw himself to divert him, but the ball then bounced on a Nantes before he could take it back.

Vitinha finally found the fault. Served in the axis by Nuno Mendes, his shot was slightly deflected by a Nantes player before finishing in order, on the right of Anthony Lopes (68th, 0-1). In the 77th minute, Gonçalo Ramos, served in the axis by Désiré Doué, believed to double the bet for PSG. But after verification by video arbitration, his goal was canceled for offside. The match then became chopped, with little intensity, and Nantes struggled to approach the Paris camp despite an important pressing. A short victory (0-1) but reassuring for the men of Luis Enrique, who will find Ligue 1, and the Parc des Princes, on August 22 against Angers.
