Olympique Lyonnais continues to model its workforce for the coming season. After formalizing the arrival of his compatriot Pavel Šulc, the Rhone club announced the arrival of another Czech talent, Adam Karabec. The 22 -year -old attacking midfielder arrives from the Sparta Prague as part of a one year loan, with a very accessible purchase option of 3.5 million euros. Versatile and creative left -handed, he comes to bring competition and double the offensive positions. But who is this player really with intriguing potential?

Early prodigy compared to Iličić

Considered from a very young age as one of the greatest talents of his generation in Czech Republic, Adam Karabec made all his classes at the Sparta Prague Academy, where he started in professional at only 16 years old. His style of play, based on a fine technique, a vision above average and an ability to maneuver in small spaces, has earned him flattering comparisons with the Maestro Slovenian Josip Iličić. From the top of its 1.86 m, it presents the typical profile of the “advanced playmaker”, capable of evolving in number 10 or on the right wing to return to its left foot.

An already garnished list and experience in Germany

Despite her young age, Karabec does not arrive without high level experience. He already has two tracks of champion of the Czeching champion (2023, 2024) and a national cup (2024) with his record with the Sparta Prague. Above all, he acquired precious experience abroad during a successful loan at the Hamburger SV last season, where he actively participated in the rise of the club in the Bundesliga with 3 goals and 4 assists in 31 appearances. A step that has proven its adaptability.

Adam Karabec, the new OL offensive weapon

A pure creator with a margin of progression

Karabec's strong point is undoubtedly his creativity. Pure left -handed, he excels in the last pass, the shots from afar and the conservation of the ball. His vision of the game and his quality of dribbling make it a constant danger for the opposing defenses. However, he still has axes of progression, especially in his defensive contribution, deemed limited, and in the finish. In Lyon, he will bring a different profile, capable of competing with players like Rayan Cherki or Georges Mikautadze in the creative sector.

A record holder in Espoirs selection

If he is still waiting to make his debut with Team A of the Czech Republic (a summons in 2020), Adam Karabec is a real pillar of young people. He notably became the first Czech player in history to participate in three U21 European Championships (2021, 2023, 2025). His arrival in Lyon, where he joined his compatriot Pavel Šulc, could be the ideal springboard to settle permanently in selection A and cross a new CAP.

A clever loan, a bet on the future

For Olympique Lyonnais, the arrival of Adam Karabec in the form of a loan with a purchase option at only 3.5 million euros is a very clever blow. The club offers the services of a high potential player, already experienced at the high level, without taking a major financial risk. If the Czech confirms the glimpses, OL could make an exceptional “business”. It is an operation that is perfectly part of the new Lyon strategy: recruiting young and adaptable talents to build the future.
