Ligue 1+ begins … without one of its announced pillars

The cast of Ligue 1+ is taking shape and an absence is already cringing teeth in the middle. While the new channel gradually reveals its teams with Adil Rami by consulting flagship and an ambitious device, a familiar face of French viewers is sorely lacking in the call. An eviction that so much surprises the profile of the concerned seemed perfectly suited to this adventure.

Julien Brun left on the sidelines

Julien Brun is paying the price for this new deal. The commentator, who has become an emblematic face of Ligue 1 over the years, is not in the Ligue 1+ system. A decision that challenges when you know its career and its reputation in the French football community.

However, everything seemed logical for Brun to be of this new adventure. A very competent and appreciated journalist, he had accompanied all the transitions of French football: Mediapp, Prime Video, and lately Dazn. His knowledge of the championship, his relevant analyzes and his humble style made him a natural candidate for this channel which aims to seduce Ligue 1 lovers.

Julien Brun absent from the casting of the Ligue 1+ channel

A big loss for Ligue 1+

This absence contrasts with the choices made elsewhere. Smaïl Bouabdellah, present on Dazn, was kept and is among the journalists selected. A difference in treatment that questions all the more since Brun enjoyed an excellent reputation with viewers for the quality of his comments and his encyclopedic knowledge of French football.

For Ligue 1+, this is a certain lack. In a context where the new channel must convince and retain an audience already jostled by the successive changes of diffusers, depriving itself of such a recognized personality represents a risky bet. It remains to be seen if the Adil Rami, Johan Djourou and other Guillaume Hoarau will fill this void and bring this credibility that Brown naturally embodied.
