The Ultra Paris collective, more commonly known as “Cup”, the main group of Paris Saint-Germain supporters, has formalized its desire to also animate the Boulogne tribune in next season, in addition to its historic location in Auteuil according to RMC Sport. In an email addressed to its members, the group justifies this decision by a saturated waiting list and by the will to “Give back to the Parc des Princes the atmosphere it deserves”. The club validates the initiative, welcoming a more homogeneous atmosphere, especially after tests deemed successful in Champions League matches. Specific CUP subscriptions will therefore be offered: with drums, capos, tifos and authorized megaphones.
This decision divides. Some salute a desire for unity and a global animation of the stadium, while others denounce too much gap in ultra culture. Historically, Boulogne and Auteuil represented two opposite currents, until the prohibition of groups in 2010 after tragic violence. “The Cup and its associations have nothing to do in the rostrum opposite”believes a former member, recalling that the group was born and lives in Auteuil. Others fear that this slows down the emergence of new independent groups in Boulogne. The project, therefore supported by the management of PSG, could however mark a turning point in the culture of Parisian supporters. Case to follow.
