One season only. It is the duration of the Dazn adventure with Ligue 1, which ends on a final observation. Chosen to broadcast eight of the nine weekly games in the French championship, the platform gives way to the new official channel, Ligue 1+, which will see the light of day next month. This turnaround is welcomed with a certain relief, in particular by Pierre Ménès, long criticism of the retransmissions of Dazn.
On his X account, the former consultant of Canal Football Club did not hide his satisfaction by announcing having terminated his subscription to the platform. “We have small joys in life: I just canceled my subscription to Dazn”he launched Thursday. “No more moldy comments and sloppy programs”he added, denouncing the quality of comments and production bluntly. “Me who always looks at Strasbourg, it was a ordeal”he insisted.
The criticism continued in the tone of the franchise: “I heard too many incompetence on this channel this season”he said, evoking dysfunctions that would go beyond the simple rendering on the antenna. “It would seem that the internal atmosphere was quite disgusting”he said, revealing backstage tensions.
Ligue 1+, it's a no
Arrested by a surfer suggesting him to apply at Ligue 1+, Pierre Ménès replied with the same frankness tinged with bitterness: “No, I apply for nothing. Never. It will not happen, I am a pestified. »» A declaration which testifies to the tense relationships which he was able to maintain in the environment.
On the side of the Professional Football League, ambition remains intact. However, the launch of Ligue 1+ is already experiencing its first difficulties. The failure of Samir Nasri, announced as a flagship figure of the project, has created a hard blow. His choice to extend with Canal+ until 2029 illustrates the obstacles to be overcome for the new channel, which still has to gain the confidence of supporters and restore the image of Ligue 1 on the audiovisual level.
