The new OM coach, Marcelino, has fielded a very attractive eleven for the duel against Panathinaikos in C1.

This Wednesday evening, OM are playing the first leg of 3e preliminary round of the Champions League against the Greeks of Panathinaikos. An important meeting that needs to be negotiated as well as possible before the second round at the Vélodrome next week.

Marcelino establishes Ounahi

For this meeting, Marcelino had strong choices to make and in particular in attack. In particular, he had to choose between the two Moroccans Azeddine Ounahi and Amine Harit for the position of left winger. And his choice fell on the first named, author of an excellent preparation phase.

Marseille will be aligned in 4-4-2 and the attacking duo will consist of Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Iliman Ndiaye. The latter has recovered well from the injury he picked up against Leverkusen last week. Ismaila Sarr, the other offensive rookie, also starts on the right flank.

In the midfield, we trusted the duo Geoffrey Kondogbia and Jordan Veretout. The duo were complementary during the friendly matches. Mattéo Guendouzi and Valentin Rongier start on the bench.

Finally, behind, the Spanish coach chose to bet on the pair Gigot – Balerdi to compose the axis, to the detriment in particular of Mbemba. On the sides, it is Jonathan Clauss and Renan Lodi who are aligned. Finally, the cage is guarded by Pau Lopez.

OM’s starting lineup:

Lopez; Balerdi, Leg, Lodi, Clauss; Kondogbia, Veretout, Sarr, Ounahi; Aubameyang, Ndiaye.
